Our services
We support people with mental health challenges to become more physically active with other
like-minded people.
Yate Active Wellbeing Group
We run our Yate Active Wellbeing Group every Thursday from 11am at Yate Active Leisure Centre for two hours.
The first hour involves our physical activities in the main sports hall, followed by a tea and coffee social in the Leisure Centre’s café.
We charge only £2 per person and the first session is free.
Time: 11am-12 noon - sports / 12 noon - 1pm - tea and coffee social.
Place: Main Hall, Yate Active Leisure Centre, BS37 4DQ
Tackling Inequalities Fund: online project
Good News! We achieved a grant from the Tackling Inequalities Fund from Wesport. This means we’re developing our own YouTube exercise channel for supporting our mental health challenges.
The grant will also fund other fitness instructors (with mental health awareness) to join us on Thursdays for when we reopen at Yate Active Leisure Centre.
Their sessions will cover yoga, active stretch, Tai Chi, Body Balance, back health and core strength. The sky is the limit.
Health and Wellbeing open days
We can work with other services and organisations for offering health and wellbeing open days.
For four years we’ve work with Terrence Higgins Trust (Bristol). We ran its Move and Shake open days at Hamilton House, Easton Community Centre and more recently on Zoom.
Our events had:
inspiring talks on health and fitness
physical activities, such as Tai Chi, dance fitness, mobility, bodyweight circuits and stretch.
Therefore, everyone had an opportunity to explore, question and discuss our health, wellbeing and fitness needs.
We’re keen to work with more organisations and services, such as community hubs, so we can offer the same opportunities.
We run our out reach services on Thursday, during the evenings and weekend days.
